In her Blue Bay workshop, Nadine Chelin’s gentle smile is an irresistible invitation to enter her world and get your hands dirty with clay! It was on the other side of the Atlantic that the Mauritian discovered pottery and perfected her skills; it’s here that she now introduces everyone to the art of ceramics!
With a degree in graphic design and 3D animation, Nadine opened her first ceramics studio in Canada in 2016. She’s always been passionate about art, and for her, pottery is a magical art form that must be preserved. Everything here is imbued with it! Each unique piece is born from the transformation of a lump of clay into an object as decorative as it is functional – vases, bowls, mugs, plates – and expresses real expertise and a singular style. Finesse of color, harmony of form, magic… a soothing discipline that she wishes to maintain in the intimacy of craftsmanship and apprenticeship.
Here, clay is played on the table… or on the wheel! A succession of steps, precise, meticulous gestures that shape and fascinate… from centering the ball of clay on the wheel, to the final, singular creation. Although her raw materials come from South Africa for the time being, Nadine plans to work with local suppliers in the near future.
His work can be purchased at Rendez-vous, My Pop-Up Store, Attitude Sunrise and Ravenala hotels, Bloom restaurant, The Hive Marketplace at Mont Choisy Mall, as well as on his website.
