The Dev Virahsawmy Prize was launched by Immedia on March 14 in front of the press.
What better, in fact, than Dev Virahsawmy, who throughout his life developed a fascinating repertoire of plays in Morisian Kreol, adapted from classical theater or steeped in real-life stories, such as Li, idiotically censored at its creation. The promoters of this playwriting prize are inviting authors to build on the legacy left by the writer who made Morisian kreol literature.
For this living art, which is shaped here and now in society, the language of the heart was needed… the one whispered by mothers in the ear of their tibut. Candidates have until November 15 to submit their texts, and the prize of Rs 75,000 will be awarded on March 16, 2026, with Immedia producing the winning piece…
