Dive into passion

On April 27, young and old alike will take to the water at Pereybère, for the 47ᵉ edition of Nando’s RLSS Open Water Swim. Combining the fun to the demands of swimming, this event will be preceded by the distribution of a training guide to participants. ZA

The organizers, the Royal Life Saving Society Mauritius (RLSS-M), are offering advice on how to improve swimmers’ techniques. By following this program, those taking part in the race will be able to strengthen their endurance and power. Based on a 20-week program that can be adapted to each individual, the guide is already available online : www.swimnandosmauritius.com.

Every year, the famous Pereybère race welcomes more and more participants, and ambitions remain high for 2025. According to Mark Elsbury, CEO of Nando’s Maurice: “In addition to encouraging the massive participation of Mauritians, we are delighted to contribute to drowning prevention through this commitment. As always, we look forward to a convivial and festive atmosphere around the competition.”

According to statistics, fatal drownings in Mauritius are five times higher than in developed countries. Diihraz Dosieah, President of RLSS-M, adds, “Our mission is to reduce the drowning rate in Mauritius by educating the public and promoting swimming as a vital skill.”

The Kids Fun Swim is a 50 m race for 3 to 5 year-olds and a 75 m race for 6 to 8 year-olds. The 1.6 km and 3.8 km races can be run with or without equipment. (mask, snorkel, fins), but swimmers competing with them will not be eligible for prizes. The flagship event is a combination of these two races.
