Mauritius has no shortage of beautiful hotels, and La Gazette Mag regularly tells you all about them! This month, I tested a little nugget for you: the C Mauritius by Constance, in Palmar. An upmarket address that makes letting go its philosophy!
Delphine Raimond
The colonial, plant-filled lobby leads to the tranquil infinity pool overlooking the ocean. As soon as you arrive, you’re immersed in a five-star atmosphere that’s not stuffy… but relaxed. The C Mauritius is decorated with care and attention to detail, far from the ostentatious image of a hotel in its category. The welcome, the service, the comfort and the luxury of its facilities are naturally matched by a feeling of simplicity and relaxation.
C for concept
Here, the difference lies in the concept, which invites guests to rediscover their childlike spirit. The pleasures of play are everywhere: trampoline at sea, swings, toy box on the beach, and much more! A plethora of water and land-based activities are available free of charge, and the hotel’s renowned kitesurfing school offers an introduction to the discipline, coached by the very best! In addition to archery, tennis, padel and table tennis, there’s also a fitness trail. There’s no kids’ club, but young and old can have fun together!
A number of signature dishes set the place apart from the rest: at the Cpicerie, you can put together a packed lunch of fresh, cooked products… before settling down on a mat on the beach or in the gardens, while the Sirius sailing pirogue lets you enjoy your meal on board. Experience the impressive spectacle of the waves on the coral reef and admire the long beaches of Palmar and Belle Mare from the lagoon. As for all the other surprises awaiting you… it’s up to you to discover them!
C as in comfort
C Mauritius is in fact a cocoon of well-being, offering a variety of leisure activities and atmospheres – from peaceful to lively – to suit all tastes and rhythms. Holidaymaker comfort is also, and above all, a matter of well-maintained infrastructures, restaurants, bars… and the All Inclusive formula. Although the latter always frightens me when it’s associated with a luxury hotel, I didn’t notice any abuse or overflow; everything is available to the customer, who enjoys it intelligently and respectfully. The cocktails are carefully prepared and the meals, wines, spirits, coffees, teas… are of the highest quality. As for the rooms, both categories (the colonial Prestige and the contemporary Luxe) offer impeccable space, decoration, comfort and equipment! What can we say about the spa and its divine treatments; the hammam, sauna and jacuzzi; the Zen garden where absolute calm reigns; yoga sessions under the gazebo, to the sound of birdsong?
The helpful, smiling and efficient staff transformed my stay into a deeply relaxing experience, accompanied by a sense of freedom, of letting go… that’s so good to be back. A wonderful surprise!
C Mauritius will be hosting the C Kite Festival from July 14 to 16.
