On February 8, eleven new members of the CCIFM introduced themselves, in just two minutes, on the rooftop of the latest Regus* premises in Grand Baie Cœur de Ville. Alongside its official sponsors – ABC Private Banking, Mauritius Telecom, Axess – and its many partners and benefactors, the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie France Maurice reminded the audience of its functions. A unifying force, a facilitator of relations, a source of proposals and open to all individuals residing in Mauritius (regardless of nationality) with an economic link to France, the network works to defend the common and collective interests of its members.
Relaxed but serious, General Manager Amaury Halgand began by outlining the main mission of the leading private network of French companies abroad (94 countries): to welcome and support French investors and entrepreneurs in Mauritius, to help them set up and develop their businesses, and to put them in touch with established companies that have long-term commercial, industrial or financial ties with France…
But in reality, the trade association plays a much broader role in the economic landscape. Among other actions and services, the association helps Mauritian companies to set up in France, offers packages to discover the country, reclaims French VAT on travel expenses (fuel, tolls, transport, trade show fees, etc.) and organizes monthly events: sports tournaments, lunches, afterwork sessions, webinars providing advice, assistance and information (on the EDB registration procedure, for example), and so on. The terms ” equity”, “synergy” and “conviviality”, evoked by Amaury Halgand, enabled the audience to immerse themselves in the values of the CCIFM.
