Constance Culinary Festival: March 9 to 16, 2024

One of Mauritius’s best-loved gastronomic events, Le Constance Festival Culinaire delights us every year with its remarkable professional line-up and its organization under control. At the emblematic Constance Prince Maurice and Constance Belle Mare Plage, the 17e edition promises a festival of flavours and grandeur!

While the Mauritian hotel group has always prided itself on its gastronomic and oenological identity (it boasts no fewer than ninety-six sommeliers, all destinations included), this event is the culmination of its excellence and legitimacy. From the unfailing partnership with the Deutz Champagne house, among others, to the presence of the world’s greatest names in catering; from the themed dinners blending local influences with international culinary techniques, to the prestigious competitions for which it is renowned, the Constance Culinary Festival has not finished shining!

A new collaboration

The Constance Festival Culinaire constellation is enriched this year by the addition of three-Michelin-starred French chef Régis Marcon. Now joined by his son Jacques, he has been at the helm of the illustrious Maison Marcon in Saint-Bonnet-Le-Froid for forty years. His love of the terroir and its products, his passion for passing on know-how… led him to write the book Défi Gourmand (from the Académie des Bocuse d’Or), dedicated to the preparation of cooking competitions. So it’s only natural that he should join the 2024 edition of the Constance Festival Culinaire, to preside over it alongside the one we no longer need to introduce, pastry chef Pierre Hermé, a loyal partner since 2016. “We have a special thought for chef Serge Vieira and his family, who so loved this land and this atmosphere. We want to perpetuate his spirit of transmission, and I’m looking forward to working with the Constance teams in this friendly, creative atmosphere”, declared Régis Marcon when he officially announced his collaboration last September.

A program that lives up to its reputation

The Constance Culinary Festival has always been about sharing the expertise of Michelin-starred chefs with the chefs of the Constance Hotels & Resorts group. Pairs of master and pupil compete against each other in a variety of competitions, distilling their skills and unwavering love of the craft. In addition to the competitions revealing the talent of Mauritian amateur chefs – best chilli cake, best potato cake – and the signature Café Gourmand by Constance competition, there will be the Trophée Deutz, Trophée Pierre Hermé, Trophée Jars Arts de la Table and Trophée Régis Marcon. There will also be local outings for chefs, culinary workshops and classes led by Michelin-starred luminaries, a twelve-handed artistic dinner, surprises and discoveries… and a gala evening to round off the week. As always, the jury, made up of leading figures from the world of gastronomy and sommellerie, will vouch for the results of the 2024 vintage.
