Between June and September, the Eastern Golfers Challenge brought together over 130 participants on four prestigious East Coast courses: Anahita Golf Club, The Nine by Azuri, Île aux Cerfs Golf Club and Constance Golf Links. A promising competition for years to come!
Launched by AXYS (with thirty years’ expertise in portfolio management in Mauritius), this tournament has now enriched the island’s golf offering, with an innovative, collegiate concept. Spread over four months, the mixed sporting event took place over five rounds of individual stableford . The first four – at Anahita Golf Club (June 24), The Nine by Azuri (July 15), Ile aux Cerfs (July 29) and Constance Golf Links (August 19) – were shotgun rounds in the morning, before players gathered for a convivial lunch. The final on September 29 took place in the afternoon at Anahita Golf Club, followed by a grand prize-giving ceremony.
The winners of the Ordre du Mérite category, Brice Roehrig – best net score – and Emmanuelle Champion Pricco – best gross score – were respectively awarded a year’s membership of the five partner golf courses and a trip for two to Rodrigues.
If the enthusiastic testimonials from all participants are anything to go by, this first opus was a success, combining impeccable organization, attentive teams and a sporting spirit fused with a desire to have fun; the perfect balance to arouse the enthusiasm of golfers, who are already certain to sign up for the second edition!
