With the launch of its first flight to the island in 2002, using a Boeing 777-300ER, Emirates’ presence on our territory is a historic one!
In March 2013, a special A380 flight celebrated 45 years of independence for Mauritius, and on December 16 of the same year, the EK 701 lands at SSR International Airport with over 500 passengers on board. This marked the start of the A380’s new daily service to the island – the first destination in Africa to welcome it. From the following year, the rotation becomes twice-daily!
A veritable catalyst for local tourism growth, Emirates has already carried over five million passengers to the island in the world’s largest commercial aircraft. Its code-share with Air Mauritius on the Dubai-Mauritius route marks one of the longest partnerships in the airline’s history.
