Every year, the Ladies Golf Union (LGU), now chaired by the radiant Elizabeth Dalais, organizes – among other things – the biggest women’s amateur golf competition in the Indian Ocean: the Mauritius Ladies Open (MLO).
“With the aim of getting all the island’s golf courses working, the tournament will now move every 3 or 4 years,” says Elizabeth, noting that the new partner of choice around this signature competition is the Heritage Group. From May 3 to 6, the HMLO 2023 will be held at Bel Ombre, on the Heritage Golf Club course, ranked among the best in the world.
The international success of the tournament (already over a hundred registrations for 144 places), which has no equivalent for men, is based on the presence of major local sponsors and its flawless organization by a team of enthusiasts. When Elizabeth confides to me that “they can manage perfectly well on their own”, I read a legitimate pride in her sparkling eyes. As the LGU also associates each event with an NGO, this year’s cause will be environmental… and soon to be revealed.
On the program for these three days on the green: a briefing and cocktail reception (May 3), a duo tournament (May 4), two individual days (May 5 and 6), a gala evening and prize-giving ceremony, but above all… reunions and meetings, laughter and good humor, surprises!
“We can’t wait to get together again! The LGU brings people together and creates wonderful bonds!”
What are you waiting for, ladies?
