“The Ti Raid, a 10 km race, and the Raid West, a 16 km race, extremely technical and reserved for experienced runners, took place on February 10. The first started a few kilometers from the registration point in Pétrin (transport was provided to the start). The second started in Pétrin. Both races ended in Chamarel, with transport provided to bring all participants back to the initial parking area”, explains Philippe la Hausse de Lalouvière, of Randotrail.mu, an initiative aimed at promoting outdoor activities such as trail-running, hiking, climbing, alpine walking… To become a member, simply register on the randotrail.mu website.
It should be noted that the association’s aim is to encourage young and old alike to take part in the activities. “We provide technical information and assistance on various aspects of these activities, particularly with regard to nutrition, training, equipment, routes and safety.” Randotrail.mu also organizes training, educational and informative sessions in the sporting field in Mauritius and internationally, and supports nature conservation, adaptive management and access to natural and outdoor areas, as well as appropriate signage and trail marking. “We raise funds, organize events to support these sports, help secure sponsorships and put in place support for athletes and participants in these sports, in Mauritius and beyond.”
