Tamarin takes on new colors

Since late July, the Kouler Moris urban art project has been celebrating the beauty of Tamarin, thanks to the magnificent frescoes on the walls of Beach Avenue. Four Mauritian artists expressed their talents in an unusual way, including a QR code to animate the drawings.

Writer Mélanie Pérès, artistic director Julien Quirin, singer Rafiki and painter David Rogers, alias Dévid, spent just five months creating these works. 350 meters of walls, previously plastered to accommodate the paintings, were used for this collective adventure. Inhabitants put their hands to work with just a few brushstrokes. Strong values were associated with this concept, defending the protection of nature, heritage and sustainable development, as well as solidarity and friendship. “Tamarin, a better future” was the central theme.

A QR code is associated with each work, bringing it to life with music, words and animation. The idea is to bring more depth to each piece thanks to the 3D effect. You’ll be told the story of the dolphins, the guardians of the bay, the odyssey of the captain or the whispers of the hidden shell, and many other adventures. A number of sponsors made this ingenious idea possible: UBP, Sofap, Rogers with the Veranda Tamarin hotel on Beach Avenue, Awanam from Phoenix Beverages Ltd and Pascale Motocchio, spokesperson for the Tamarin community. “I think it brings the village to life,” says local resident Jean-Marie with a smile on his face.

A great initiative for everyone!
