As part of a boxing tournament organized at the end of October in the heart of Bel Ombre, a close neighbor and loyal supporter, Heritage Resorts financed gloves, bags, skipping ropes and other training equipment for thehe French Savate Boxing School of Bel Ombre – Baie du Capa social and inclusive structure.

A great champion
Founded by Pascal David de Robillard in 2014 with 12 students, the school now has 32 licensees aged from 7 to 33! The happy coach and former champion, now a maintenance employee at the Heritage Le Telfair hotel, has an exemplary record in the aforementioned discipline. From his first victory in 1999 to his most recent last year, Pascal is a seventeen-time champion of Mauritius, a one-time champion of the Indian Ocean, as well as of Africa, and also ranked4th and5th worldwide.
Inclusion through sport
“I grew up in a dangerous environment and started training in self-defense, beginning with judo,” Pascal tells me. This school is a dream come true for the man who systematically strives to understand the motivations of each student, convinced that boxing is a sport suited to everyone. “In Mauritius, the enthusiasm of the communities is there. Dedicated young athletes are delivering outstanding results, and the feedback is healthy and positive, especially during tournaments and events that offer a constructive emotional experience.”
Call for partnership
Like all social projects, the school needs sponsors to finance transport and accommodation during tournaments. As for the organization of the future Indian Ocean championship, Coach Pascal, motivated and committed, remains open to new collaborations: “The project is moving forward… and if all goes well, it will be for June or July 2024!”
