The primary vocation of the Certificat de sociability andaptitudeutilization (CSAU) is to check the dog’s temperamental balance, its sociability and the owner’s ability to exercise control over it. him. The judge will pay particular attention to these specific aspects of the animal’s character.

The CSAU is open to all dogs at least 12 months old, with or without registration in a stud book, and can be judged by all working judges of the Commission d’utilisation nationale chiens de berger et de garde (CUN-CBG). It must be obtained in order to practice the disciplines managed by this commission.
The test is designed to assess the dog’s stability and sociability in the presence and absence of its owner. It includes flexibility exercises such as following on leash and recall, among others. The dog’s reactions in various situations are also examined. Successful completion of the CSAU is rewarded with a diploma, graded “Excellent”, “Very good” or “Good”. A dog’s failure to pass the test is not definitive, and the animal may be retested at a later date.
Under a mutual recognition agreement, sociability tests performed in other member countries of the Fédération cynologique internationale (FCI) are accepted as equivalent to the CSAU; for example, a BH in Germany can replace it.
The CSAU is compulsory if you wish to take part in canine activities such as the ring, competitions, French tracking or mondioring (for the selection of breeding stock).
